11 September 2026 • 14:00 -15:30

Thematic scope

Upper Silesia’s transformation now extends far beyond the mining sector itself. Energy, automotive and the region’s entire industrial model are changing at the same time, while Silesia’s future depends on its ability to build new economic specialisations and attract investment linked to technologies of the future.

Modern industry will remain important, but Silesia’s future growth may increasingly depend on sectors such as AI, IT, data centres, space tech, modern business services, creative industries, and advanced technologies for energy and defence. The starting point for the debate will be a report on the region’s future, presenting a SWOT analysis and possible scenarios for Silesia’s economic development.

Main themes:

  • SWOT analysis for the region
  • The future of industry and energy in Silesia
  • Transformation of the automotive sector
  • AI, IT, space tech and new technologies
  • New value chains and investment
  • Cooperation between business, local government and academia
  • A new economic brand for the region

Key questions:

  • What should Silesia’s economic model look like in 10–20 years?
  • Which sectors can become the region’s new growth drivers?
  • Can Silesia become a centre for new technologies and industrial innovation?
  • How can investment in AI, IT, energy and future industries be attracted?
  • How can a transformation strategy be built around the region’s strengths?
